Self harm in secrets

Journal Entry: Sun Jul 6, 2008, 1:38 PM

Self harm in secrets

Due to dA submission rules, DAS cannot accept secrets that depict real self harm. Makeup and/or other simulated effects are allowed. If you send in a secret that contains images of actual self harm, it will be rejected. If you have any questions, note or email the club.

For dA submission rules on self harm, please see FAQ #284: Can we submit photographs showing actual injury, self-harm and mutilation?

It ultimately depends on how the picture is portrayed. On my stock page was a picture of my hand. You could see old scars in it and as a result it was taken down. Shortly after though, it was put back as they decided the focus wasn't on the past injury.

dA will probably judge on a case by case basis. If you use an image that happens to have a scar on it, it'll probably be ok. It just depends on the focus.

I was more directing it at potential secret tellers who were unsure.

The whole scars rule is pretty stupid. Not gonna lie. I know you guys didn't make it, just sayin.

Uhm, I know this may seem a little silly, but if a secret has to do with self harm, would that be disallowed too?
I mean no pictures, but admitting you have a problem with it.
Sorry :/ It seems a little obscure to me. ^^'

They just mean the actual photo, I believe.

I think they just mean an actual photo.

What if someone has a scar on their head from an injury - does that mean it can't be allowed seeing as how it's after an injury.

So there - I think scars should be allowed, no matter where. My brother has a scar on his wrist because of a ski sharpening injury - it doesn't mean he did it on purpose.

If you have a problem with this rule then you need to take it out with dA not DAS.
Self hard is a dA rule not a DAS rule.
Meaning this is a rule that though out the whole of dA.
