DAS Helper 5 here.

I'm taking the highly unusual step (for a Helper) in posting a journal to update you all on the current status of DeviantArtSecret.

You may have noticed that we have not been submitting secrets over the past month.  If you have sent a note to DAS, you may be wondering why it has not been responded to.

Here's a little information about how DAS works - all of the Helpers rely on one main admin person to send us the secrets that you email in, in order for us to submit them to DAS.  Unfortunately, it currently appears that this main admin person is missing and has not been seen or heard from since at least around the beginning of January.

There may be a number of different reasons for this occurring – the person may have moved and is currently without internet access; they may have been very sick and unable to get to a computer at all or they may have simply been on holiday.  As none of the Helpers know the identity of each other or the identity of the main admin person, our only lines of communication has been through the email address that you all have and through the back room of this account.

What does this mean for DAS?

In the short term, DAS will be on hiatus for a little longer whilst all current Helpers convene to discuss how best to proceed.  This should not affect anybody, as we have been in Read Only Mode since approximately the middle of October last year.  A couple more weeks should not make that much difference in the grand scheme of things.

Please do not submit any secrets to the current email address until further notice.  Again, this should not affect anybody, as no one should have been submitting secrets since October last year in order for us to attempt a catch up.

In the long term, DAS will continue.  I am hoping that our main admin person is simply on holiday and has yet to log back in to his or her computer; this is better than any other alternative that one can imagine.  If they come back on, things will continue as normal soon.  However if they do not log back in, DAS may take a slight detour whilst myself and the other current Helpers discuss how best to proceed.

I end this update with the request that all current Helpers log in as soon as possible and check and respond to the notes that have been sent to each of you.

To the main admin person of DAS: I know I have taken a very unusual step here; one that you probably won't agree with.  If this journal gets deleted and my Helper rights withdrawn, I will understand and I thank you for allowing me to assist this club over the last few years.  However, know that I post this with the best of intentions for the DAS group – I do not want to see a club that helps so many people flounder and die.
