Citing the image

Journal Entry: Sun Jul 6, 2008, 1:37 PM

When you send in your secret

When you send in your secret, you must provide a direct link to the image that you used. Not :devusername: or just the username. We need a direct link.</em>

Self Taken Images

Due to copyright issues, DAS can no longer accept submissions that contain self-taken images. This is due to a number of secret tellers changing their minds and asking for the secret to be removed. Unless everyone who sends in a secret also signs an image release form, DAS cannot use your image. As asking every secret teller to submit a form is a little OTT, DAS is no longer accepting secrets that contain images you, the secret teller, have taken.  Please note you can still submit secrets that use drawings you have done yourself, or you can use stock. Our shoutboard has a list of stock artists that have already given permission for their stock to be used for secrets.

This is not a DAS decided rule; this is a dA rule. Please do not send notes to DAS complaining about it – it is out of our hands. DAS is just as disappointed as out secret tellers. However, dA needs a signed form. A disclaimer in our journals or implied permission in your emails isn’t enough. As an account of dA, we have to follow their policies.

FAQ #193: How do I prove that I had permission to use someone's work?

Stock Images in Secrets

If you used a stock image in your secret, DAS will tell the stock provider that their image has been used in a secret.
Please note that if the stock provider objects to the secret, they can ask for it to be removed, as it is still their image.
If you use stock, DAS does not accept secrets that use stock from sites other than dA.

We will soon be putting a stop to using stock accounts not listed for DAS use.
More information on this will be supplied when the time comes

Non-stock images

We are sorry to say, we no longer accept secrets using images that are not stock images.
We are still accepting secrets that use stock images that are not listed on our front page list.
This will how ever be changing in the near future.

Stock Artists in our shout-board

Not all stock artists like their stock to be used in DAS. To the right you will find a list of stock artists who have given permission. These are stock accounts that have all stock images in them, not normal photos.
The means the stock artist doesn't mind their art being used in the DAS on YouTube
We incorrage you to use the stock artist provided in this list.

Stock Artists

If you are a stock artist and you would like you account added to our list. Please send in a note from the stock account not from your main account. In the note let us know why you have sent your note, and let us know if you would also like to be added as a stock account who doesnt mind stock being used in DAS on YouTube.

if I drew my secret from scratch - so it would all be my own work - but I gave DAS permission to use it, would it be accepted? (this is quite confusing - can I submit my own art or not?)
also, if I did submit, it would be a finished picture, and that would be how I would want it to appear - is this allowed, because the system seems a little like I send an image and what I want written on it, and they get put together by DAS.

I think it's a great idea though, just a little confusing.

You can submit your own art. You don't even have to sign any permission form.
The picture should be finished (the text should be on the picture). DAS just wants to post the secret. They won't add anything to your picture, I think.
You can't submit photos you took yourself because of DA's rules.
Dunno if it's clearer now... ^^'

If I made a secret myself (like drew it and wrote) and just attached the image to the mail, will it be accepted? I mean, should I have typed something? Thanks

This is news to me, so... When submitting a secret, one has to send an image, too? I thought one would send in a secret, and someone else would put it to an image or make it an image... o.o
