Sometimes people don't even change themselves when something like that happens. At least you've made an effort ST, and you can be proud of yourself for that.
I've always been kind, unless someone has really hurt me first. But it took my attempted suicide to make me open my heart completely to the people around me.
We are all guilty, in one way or another. Don't beat yourself up about it. Just pour out as much love and kindness as you can now. That does make you a better person. <3
