I've never seen a retail cashier get as much disrespect as ANY fast-food worker gets. Even still, I can't wait to move from cashier to floor-salesman.

So, once again, I'm sorry for the way you're treated. ___insert name of moron here___ shouldn't be doing that to you. I mean you're here to help us and __moron__ is just being an ass to you. I really am sorry.

I mean that, I really do.

I always try to be cheerful, friendly and ALWAYS thank the cashier and wish them a great day... cause I worked at McDonald's as a cashier and I know what it's like.. but when I'm trying to be nice and polite they usually act sour or tired and never return my best wishes :x

I know how you feel. I was a bagger for a year and a half. People blamed me because THEY were stupid enough to put their bag of canned fruit on top of their bag of brad in the back of their car...I honestly wonder how these people remember to breathe. Or maybe they were just trying to rip the store off for some free shit. I never know where one type of stupidity ends and another begins...they all look the same to me.

Also, that job made me wish cell phones didn't exist. >_>

Just don't give up on humanity as a whole. Try to keep your mind on the nice ones that come through.

I think what needs to happen is that people need to stop and realize that since they don't keep their wallet in their skull, they don't need to remove their brains to go shopping.

Also, if you have any stories that you'd like to laugh about after the fact: [link]

I've seen mean costumers in my life but I've also seen mean cashiers/waiters/etc. D:
I wanted to be a waiter when I was little and I still love playing the waiter (even though I found myself a much better path that I'm following). Everyone around me always said you need to have something special to take you to that kind of job, because there's a lot to endure D: I wish people would stop being mean and then there would be nothing too bad to endure and the cashiers, waiters, etc could also live their life happily without hating people. D:

ST, always remember, not ALL of the people are mean and so. Forget about the mean costumers. I know it's hard but in the end everyone deserves a chance.

And passing out samples in Costco? Saaaame thing.
Although for as many mean people we get, its nice to see members that recognize you and stop to say hi.
Sometimes the mean people and the nice people make up for each other, unless its really busy. Then I just put on a bigger smile and not take it personally. ;p

Btw, Kohl's cash, yessssss!!! Very nice secret!!

Ahaha, I wonder if one of my coworkers wrote this?

I don't usually work at POS, but I could tell some pretty ridiculous stories about the housewares and children's departments. Like the customer who laid out every brown bath rug we had, walked on them, and then left the ones she didn't want on the floor. Or the fact that our toy department is often used as a daycare by parents who don't want to drag their kids around the store. Or the fact that nobody bothers to fold (or even pick up) the clothes that they've knocked off the shelves.

Honestly, it's not bad most of the time. But some of those customers... man. They'd be enough to make me contemplate turning to the dark side, were the Force a real thing.

*You will be polite.*
..."I will be polite."
*You will pick up what you knocked over.*
...."I will pick up what I knocked over."
*You will read your coupon's expiration date before attempting to use it.*
....."I will...wait, that's not right! You!! You tricked me!"

:lmao:

Makes me wish I had such powers, even if they didn't always work. Customer service is not always a pleasant job experience, to put it very mildly, though it's one way to improve your acting skills.

I swear the comments in this secret are so full of bullshit. Just walking around as a customer, it's obvious how crazy people are--and chances are they're bitches to EVERYONE, not just cashiers or waiters.

Also, god forbid any customers have a bad day just like the rest of us and don't realize they're being rude. I say suck it up and deal with it, or quit.

Also, badmouthing your customers reflects badly on you and future employers, you never know who controls what or who knows who. The sister of the person you just badmouthed probably heard you, and complained to your manager. A customer probably just overheard you tell your coworker about that rude bitch you just dealt with, and tells that talked-about customer what he/she heard and BOOM another complaint and angrier customer. One of my past coworkers was once fired because she racistly mocked an asian woman who came into the store, and the woman overheard. Coworker had no idea that the "customer" was actually the new district manager, and didn't want racist badmouthing in her team of employees so she fired the girl right there.

Deal with it, it's in our job to take care of people. For all we know our customers are going through abuse or a hard divorce, or a custody battle or just got dumped. It's our job to make our customers happy with their service, even if we don't make them smile we probably made them feel a little better by giving them our attention--even if we're only paid to pay attention to them.

Anything where you are providing a service to people is painful! Try being a preschool teacher, not only are in charge of their perfect little angels, but they also treat you like a therapist at times just babbling and telling me things I really don't need to know! Or they are just plain rude.

While I was a cashier, I had some days when it seemed everyone had taken a mean pill or something, but for the most part they were, if nothing else, civil.

As a customer - I've seen more rude cashiers than I ever did rude customers (and that was working at a pizza joint for over a year)

my mother worked at michaels for 2 days.
during those 2 days she had to deal with somebody trying to return like 80 packets of beads which belonged to their deceased mother, and somebody trying to use 10 or so coupons at once. and somebody trying to exchange giftcards or something. ... LOL my mom didn't even receive any training, so imagine how she felt. >:

Damn! :O It's been years since I quit Michaels but I can think of a few of the more memorable customers. One tried to use two 50% off coupons to get 100% off their purchase (lol). The most epic was someone who wanted to make a resin cast of their boner, and needed to know how long to keep the stuff on until it dried. That was probably just a prank, but it was still pretty awkward for my coworker who was trying to help them. Not to mention people who threatened to call corporate HQ and have us all fired for charging such-and-such on a custom framing order. Custom framing is expensive! They just never seem to realize this. :/
