I've heard that before, too, right before the words "you need to suffer more."

You're not a monster, ST. You're a regular human being, flawed like everyone else in the world.

I wonder if she mean it's hard to love you because you're unlovable (which I hope not, and if that is what she meant it's not true!)...

or if she didn't mean it's hard to make herself love you, but rather because she worries about you. Love is not easy, and maybe she didn't mean it in a bad way.

I don't know the context so it could have been just a horrible thing to say and I'm sorry if that is the case, but sometimes we have to put ourselves in our parents shoes and realize how hard it is to raise a happy, healthy child.

I don't know you, ST, but I think you should know:

Sometimes I don't think us young 'uns realise the strain WE put on our parents.
I see my sister do it all the time. She pushes and pushes my mum, and when she snaps my sister turns it into a situation where my mum's the most evil person on the planet and is picking her to pieces for fun, when in actuality my mum is just letting her feelings out for a change.

Broaden your horizons.

And note she said it's not easy, not that she doesn't.

Frig, me too.
mayahuskee Featured By Owner Nov 13, 2009
Yeah, my mum's a proper twat like that too. :/ She is always saying things like that. If she's not saying that, she's saying "You just love to make my life miserable, dont you?", or other things similar to that. I feel the same way. Sorry, ST.
Desdemona-Vega Featured By Owner Nov 13, 2009
This is like my life. I'm sorry you get that too. :(

What's so hard about love? It's supposed to be the simplest and purest thing in the world.

If you ask me, sounds like she's making a big deal out of nothing and making excuses for it. I think you should confront her about it.

if the ST is continually breaking trust or doing things the mum doesnt agree with it could be hard. I know my parents had a very hard time loving me.

not saying that ST is, since the way they say it sounds more like it's just on the mums side. but i guess we'll never know.
Omega23 Featured By Owner Nov 13, 2009  Hobbyist Writer
Yeah, I guess it's difficult to judge with only one side of the story.
Snezhinka Featured By Owner Nov 13, 2009
the worst possible thing, when a parent, or someone along those lines, says these sorts of things, because it breaks down the notion of unconditional love and support parents should give.
rcsi1 Featured By Owner Nov 18, 2009
I didn't get the impression that the mom was implying that her love was conditional. I got that she loved her kid unconditionally but the fact that she loved the kid unconditionally itself was hard on her.

But then again, we'll never know.
Nekomegami Featured By Owner Nov 13, 2009
Awes.

Note me if you ever want to talk, ST.
Casey7890 Featured By Owner Nov 13, 2009
Ouch. I'm sorry, ST.
Mlaa Featured By Owner Nov 13, 2009
My sister's mother (who raised me after my mom died) told me the same thing. ;o;
But you're not alone, ST.
holly-polly Featured By Owner Nov 13, 2009
my mum tells me things like that too.

I´m sorry, ST. At least, you´re not alone. Relationship with my mother always been like this...
CassielTheLostSoul Featured By Owner Nov 13, 2009
Sorry to hear that, ST :( Me and my mother have the same sorts of conversations
