Long distance relationships -do- work, there's no need to prove it unless you're actually -in- one. I'm in a ldr, I should know. My boyfriend and I have been together for 8 months, truly love each other, and want nothing more than to be together, but we're over 3,000 miles away. Not to be mean, but I think you should consider yourself lucky if you live only 40 minutes away. That's not long-distance.

That's NOT long distance. My girlfriend was on the other side of the country. Took a week of driving for her to move here. THAT is long distance.

My fiance and I lived an hour and 45 mins away from each other for 2 and a half years. we visited every 2-4 weeks, mostly him driving to me, cause I didn't have a license or a car. We talked online every day, and for the last 6 months of being apart, we played WoW together. that helped a lot, cause I could see his character right there.

If you love them, if they love you, you'll make it work. Distance is not a boundary to love.

40 minutes? LDR? I had to drive farther to get to college and back every day, haha. It's not that far. Just a taxi or a bus. Con a friend with a car. Etc. I wish my LDR had only been 40 minutes.

But either way, in the end, it pays off. They CAN work. T

(stupid keyboard, I want my computer back >.<;) As I was saying. Took 3 years, but my LDR guy and I lived across the country from each other (Minnesota and Florida), and now we have our own place together ^^ And have lived there for a year come next month.

My boyfriend lives about 45 minutes bus/car drive away or two hours if you want to walk it.
I know it's not really that far away, but it feels as if it is a long distance, I know the feeling. I've lost count of the amount of times I've found myself just wishing he lived a few minutes away so I could go and see him when I wanted.
If you both make the effort to make it work, it will.

I know this is off topic, but;

I see a lot of names i'm very familar with crossed out...

Tinely Park, Orland Park, Chicago Heights and Club hills.

Been to each on one those places in RL, except Club Hills.

(Next time make sure to cross it out better!)

It's not a LDR. Try half-way around the world!

40mins isn't that long. My parents drove longer to see each other and so does my brother and his gf. It really shouldn't stop you.

I wouldn't even call that long distance, the guy I'm seeing is about half that from me. Maybe it just seems short to me because I've been 586 miles away from someone I loved on a regular basis.

I can't say I have much faith in long distance relationships, but I wish you luck with yours. At least it's only 40 minutes, though. I live two hours away from my mom, it's a horrendous car ride...

Almost 15 months, living an hour and a half away.
And 40 minutes is the distance I live away from my school. It's harder if you're used to having them so close, but you can do it, ST.
Prove it to everyone there for us.

Huh? Regardless of the distance, they gave a time frame - Europe and America and the rest of the world all use the same time counting method right?

IMHO, 40 mins is not a LDR, I lived that far away from my bf, and I saw him every week or more.

My last relationship, they lived the other end of the country and I saw them ever 6 months. Thats a long distance relationship :)

ya. I was being silly. Living in Canada, it's no big deal to drive 2 hours to see a friend but when I went to Europe, my friend in Germany said that 2 hours was a long time. It's all perspective. And I know it's not an LDR. My ex lived a very long ways away and we rarely saw each other at all. So.. I was more making a joke than being serious.

Ah thats fair enough :) Jokes and things get lost in context on the internet. Still, I'm in the UK, 40 mins isnt really that long, 2 hours isn't too bad either, little excessive, but doable :)

Ten hours is bad. Don't worry, ST, you'll be fine.

The main thing that seems to make my LDR (I live in Saskatchewan and he lives in PEI) work is... Well, outright dumbass stubborness. xDDD Add a decent amount of comunication to the stubborness, and you should be fine. Good luck! :D

Distance is also important to keep a relationship alive. Many relationships break apart, because of insufficient private space between the couple. Be strong. If you love this person, then nothing's gonna stop you.
Anyway, 40 minutes is not a ldr.
