Paper and plastic is an annoying response but why are you such a goddamn bitch about paper? Why even offer it if you're just going to be such a petty whore about it? I kind of hope you get fired. You're ungrateful, some people can't even get a chance at getting a chance at having a job and you're being a bitch about this? Grow the fuck up and welcome to the real world, sweetie.
Ugh, I just reread and feel even angrier than before. You are most definitely NOT good cashier in any way at all, you childish fuck.

You keep saying that you are a good cashier but as a former cashier I think you suck. No matter how mad I was or how bad the customer was I always treated them, and their property with care and respect.

It's your job. Suck it up and do it right.

I hope you get fired and someone who will appreciate having a job will get it.

This is why I bring my own grocery bags, and ask the cashier to let me bag things myself... Because some cashiers just don't understand...

I do the exact same thing.

Screw people. If I already have it bagged, it can stay that way. I shouldn't have to redo what I did because you were too lazy to mention your particulars after everything's bagged.

Especially on a big order.

I also work at a grocery store. I think the most annoying thing though is when they watch you bag everything, then say they want paper, or give you their reusable bags. I really only do crappy bagging if the person does that, or they're a real jerk. :/

plastic bags take ages to decompose and are actually a huge problem. what is wrong with using paper bags? are you just misinformed??

Imagine a manager yelling at you to hurry up. A line that keeps growing. You pack all of the grocery's in a Plastic bag and then the customer says, oh paper please. you get a little mad.

At my store we are told use plastic unless customer says other wise and 9 times out of 10 it is when you have bagged almost all of their 200 order that they say oh i want paper or got I want paper bags in plastic. I agree there are other things to be much more annoyed about. But you know what Customers can be major bitches to us and we just have to grin and bare it. Now is that right? Oh wait it just a part of our job right to take whatever. *rolls eyes* I know how you feel ST. I just wish they would outlaw plastic bags all together. It would make things much simpler sometimes.

My family uses paper and plastic. We use paper to wrap packages. We have a million uses for plastic bags. We want some of our things doublebagged so the bag doesn't break on the way out to the car, wasting our limited money to feed OUR FAMILY OF TWELVE.

You just wasted our limited money by ruining food we NEEDED simplly because we asked for two different kinds of bag, BOTH OF WHICH WE USE.

I am usually sympathetic to STs, but this makes me angry. Way to assume things, ST.

Yeah...I only shop at stores where there's a self checkout. I spent four years of my life as a cashier and then an Office Admin for Food Lion and I know how obnoxious some people can be. And I also know that I like my food packed a certain way and I don't really wanna bother any one else with my particulars. lol

its okay when people ask nicely. There are a few people that i'd pack any which way they want. Cause their nice. The assholes who make a huge production out of 6 items is just plain cruel to the Cashier.

This one woman always did her own things because she wanted things that got put away together in the same bag. She was cool about it and we talked about it and i learned how to do it her way. Because she was nice. Being nice takes you a long way.

thats completely understandable. everything is better if people are polite about it... and i will agree with you that making a big ol drama over a few things just doesnt make sense.

its always good to see a happy customer though.

Deal. Its fine if your nice. What people dont get on here is not that i hurt everyone's food. Just the majorly cruel unsensitive people who dont understand that their is a line and we get timed on how long it takes for each customer.

AHAHAHAHA! I totally love you! I mean yeah, some people may "need" both bags, but I hate it when they want rediculous requests. Like people who won't let you bag their groceries just because you're out of paper bags. Or those who want double paper bags, (and for the record, that really scratches up arms.) And then those people who don't like things packed "heavy" and want so many things packed separately, when they really can go in the same bag.

I would probably do the same thing if I didn't know they could complain, get me written up, and get me red-boxed.

And don't get me started on the ones who just stare at you and don't bother to help at all...

Some places are like that. Where i work the baggers or even me as the cashier would just sorta stand their and watch.

There was a little boy that comes in quite often. and we had a game. He'd only bag if i rolled things to him. THe parents didn't care at all, only cause he was helping. I drew the line at the egs. He wanted to me to 'roll' those down too. Hehe.

Depends on where you go. At my store if someone says they'll do it themselves. We just let them be. Its their choice.

I think it is wrong to just stand there and watch, as most cashiers are working all day long and have been standing for hours. I would love to bag most of the time, but places out here yell at you. some sort of security thing.

Ha, that was funny. Made me smile, even though i think you're mad at me.

Well I know that at my store, if you don't bag, you get in trouble because your job is to also bag. It's just the way some customers stare like they're just waiting for you to do something wrong. (And this when I have no bagger to help me, (as a cashier) and this person has a large order.)

LOL, I got told off when I told the woman to pack her own damn shopping if shes that picky.

We only have plastic over here (I'm in the UK) and I was quite happily packing her stuff, all reasonably, cold things together, not too heavy, eggs on the top etc, but she was just so fussy I went .. and I quote ...

"I'm 10 mins from the end of my shift, if I pack the way you want I will be doing over time. I don't know about you but I've been standing up for 9 hours and I wana get the hell out of here. If you are that picky, pack your own damn shopping."

And I put her stuff down and walked away :giggle:

I hated working on the checkout

LOL I didn't work there for much longer after that, needless to say I wasn't put on 'bag packing' duty much after that.

AND I hate shopping, I like to get in there and out as fast as possible. I make a point of always being nice to the checkout person, never give them shit and NEVER oh my god NEVER will I say "Cheer up, its not happened yet" When CLEARLY it HAS happened cos they are working in a supermarket at the mercy of all the bastards out there.

I never want to have to work in one again LOL
