I don't think you're pathetic but I do wish you could reorganize your ideals. A boyfriend isn't more important or a greater achievement than getting really good grades. Those grades are going to support you so you don't have to have a man to support you one day. Trust me, you would rather be able to support yourself than leaning on someone else. Especially if that support fails one day, where does that put you?

I don't think we should pick on this person for saying "How I are".

The ST could still have a high IQ/grades and speak fluently/natively in a language other than English, etc.

Or, they simply were in a rush to get this out there.

Don't worry ST. Be smart, and be proud. Don't let somebody else complete you, complete yourself.

Dating... etc, most certainly means nothing when it comes to the greatness of a person.

So many things in society tell us we need a boyfriend/girlfriend to be happy.
But it isn't true. You can be perfectly content and happy without a partner.

Are you on some kind of vigilant defense spree? Defending anyone from anything whether they need it or not? You know nothing about me. If you did, you would know that I am no troll. Saying what is on my mind does not make me a bad person and it does not make me a troll. You really shouldn't start running your mouth until you find out more about the topic.

Okay lol For the sake of not drawing any more attention to either of us I will drop this. I'm even going to say I'm sorry. I was on a roll and couldn't help myself when I noticed that you'd posted yet another negative comment. But because you're a beta tester and I'm a peon I should probably just back off. Sigh...you win. :-) Have a pleasant day.

You are not a peon. You are a person. With feelings, emotions and opinions... the same as the rest of us. "Voicing" any of those is commendable, regardless of the topic. You were doing what you thought was right. Just because I disagree with your method, doesn't mean you should stop. I view things like this. There are plenty of people who watch dAS that will offer coddling and cooing to STers. What I have to say may not always be sugar coated, but my intentions are good none the less. I aim to make people truly think about their situation, from all different perspectives. If there are twenty people that say good for you... I don't have to feel bad for being the bad guy. Sometimes people need a little tough love, sometimes they need a pat on the back, and sometimes they are complete douche bags who deserve nothing more than the grime from the bottom of your shoes. Every situation is different, and with the lack of information that generally comes with a secret... we readers have no idea what is really going on. All we can do is take from it what we can. If we care enough to offer advice, we can, if not... well, so be it. I am not the kind of person to keep my mouth shut just because someone didn't ask for advice. You never know what a little perspective on your situation might do, so it's always good to stay open minded.

The other thing I'd like to point out is, being a beta tester on dA doesn't mean shit. All it means is that you clicked a button after receiving or buying a subscription. It is merely a way to give feedback to the staff on new features before they go live. It is not a rank, and it is voluntary.

Believe me, ST, you are not pathetic. I've asked that to myself so many times, and it just isn't true. I've gone through high school with only one boyfriend for three months, that I didn't REALLY like all that much in the first place. Am I a worse person because of this? No, I just didn't happen to find the perfect person at 15. No big deal. Now I'm turning 18 and while it is still lonely at some turns without someone like that for you, life is still good. I have great friends, the lead in the school musical, I eat healthy, exercise regularly, and get good grades. Not having a boyfriend didn't stop me from doing what I wanted.

And as for the person who said "lost her most beautiful years alone." That's harsh, cruel, and untrue. I wouldn't consider my high school years a "waste" just because I didn't have a boyfriend if I still did well. Which it seems you're doing.

Besides... there is no point in dating an idiot, which most of them are at this age anyway. It'll just depress you more =P Just get through it, and things will work out in the end.

If you're sad and feeling pathetic... don't. Just improve your quality of life and go with it. Guys like a confident girl who can hold her own.

You're a smart girl, you'll figure it out.

I agree WHOLE HEARTEDLY with your assessment about the "beautiful years alone comment". My high school years were not in the slightest my most beautiful years! In a lot of ways, my life didn't even start until I turned 21! I lived on my own, worked, paid my own bills, I could actually party and do what I wanted to do (legally) and I had a buzzing social life. NO, high school is only a phase. And it is not the end all be all for you if you don't have a boyfriend.

I doubt that my IQ is that high, but I have a lifetime 4.0 and have never had a boyfriend. Although that doesn't bug me (I've already accepted that no man will ever get near me ), I have very few friends and I do not have very good looks.

Stop lying about your I.Q.

With your display of grammatical capability, it is doubtful you achieved an intelligence quotient of 145 on any credible exam; for, usually, you are not allowed to know the results of such an exam, until you are old enough to request your permanent record. I know the process, because I went through it. Locked in a little room, I was able to find my results.

I am not lying. My mother tongue isn't English, and therefore I have not been tested in grammatical capability of this language.
I didn't look at the secret again after I sent it away until it was submitted here, and so I realized just then the wrong form.
(And sorry for every mistake I made in this little comment. I am still learning English and never claimed to be able to speek it as good as you do.)

Hey, I have an I.Q. of 186 and I make typos. It's usually when I am thinking about five things other that what I am writing.

Oh and ST, your worth is not determined by having a guy.

I was picking on the grammar to draw attention to the fact that the tests are bias to language and cultural conditioning.

I stated the author should not lie, expecting the response that was returned, and wanting to point out that without proof, anyone can merely state they have a high IQ and anyone can dispute it. Although pride and the desire to be noticed can sometimes be a trait of genius, a prideful reaction can also be an indication of a narrow understanding of patterns and the pattern I was developing. I played the author like a chess game.

Geniuses of course make spelling and grammatical errors; for, true traits of genius are in the realm of fluid intelligence, and not purely crystallised intelligence; yet, pattern interpretation and realization of how to exploit patterns is where genius lays its head, and being able to utilize the understanding of language patterns would have helped the author avoid such clear errors if the author was truly a genius.

As well, along with I.Q., the importance of E.Q. is paramount to survival. Without E.Q. your I.Q. isn't all that effective, as the author displayed through their reaction; for, without that reaction, other commenting members would have come to the author's defence, and have had no reason to doubt the unlikely claim.

Think what you want to think; yet, my knowledge of patterns, tells me that although she has an above average intelligence, since only smart people are worried they are not smart enough, there is no indication of true genius.

:iconanthony-pace:
anthony-pace Featured By Owner Feb 13, 2009
Yet, in retort to your elegantly simple response, since the I.Q. increases with the level of education its holder possesses, and given the bias the test shows toward those that understand the syntax of the English language, if you display an incapability to write clear and concise phrases, you most likely would not have scored a genius level; although, that is not to say you would not be capable of scoring high, given additional education and exposure to high end concepts, and training with regard to your understanding of syntax and pattern interpretation. Patterns rule everything around you; even chaos warps into a pattern eventually. The better your ability to understand patterns, the higher your I.Q. score will be.

Being a genius is really just stating you have a capability to learn things using logic and reason faster than those around you; however, it is the E.Q. that determines your success and capability to endure and innovate.

Actually, it depends on the type of intelligence, for quite often people with high I.Q. scores, have low self control; thus, they usually go hand in hand.

That's not a typo. That's the grammatical equivalent of nails scraping across a chalkboard.

An IQ of 140+ is actually qualified as a "genius," less than 1% of the population. Maybe smart people make mistakes like that, but geniuses probably don't. And if they do that well in school, they probably know to proofread their work first!

Without getting into a big debate about IQ not equating to book learning (you ARE familiar with the phrase "idiot savant", are you not?), I'll just say this - You should relax a little. Unless you're the person who submitted this secret, you don't know the circumstances that the text was typed, you don't know the circumstances that the error was made, you don't know the circumstances that "am" became "are", and unless you can somehow reach into the STs head to extract this information, you don't have a leg to stand on.

In short, you're trying to throw your IQ weight around as if that actually means anything. IQ testing is an inexact science - Different styles of tests result in differing scores, and I find your claim of 247 highly suspect.

Honestly, someone with as high an IQ as you claim should be using it to better the world, because it would be record-breaking indeed. Have you been in the Guinness Book of World Records yet? I'm sure you and Marilyn are like best chums!

Ah, yes. Apologies. See my brainpower is so immense that I can actually understand the tone of text. It's a sixth sense only in those with IQs above 230. I sometimes forget how normal people's puny little brains work!

Have you dared considered that english is not the ST's first language? If either of you are oh so intelligent, that thought would have trickled across your mind. I highly doubt either of your credentials.

A wise person knows when an answer or response is appropriate. The both of you can point out a grammatical error sure, but can you discern the intent and truth in another being's situation? NO. You cannot.

Knowledge is worthless without wisdom. Worthless.
