I understand how you feel.
Cutting is an addiction. It's not something that just because someone says you should stop, that you just stop.
I cut for over two years. The last time I cut was almost two months ago. Sometimes i want to so bad, it makes me cry.
It'll work out eventually. PLease seek help. Don't try to hide it.
I wish you well.

I love that the picture is of a smiling girl. This secret is beautiful, if sad. I've totally been that girl, smiling her hardest seconds after crying and bleeding.

you aren't hiding any more
and you don't need to rely on cutting
it's you that cuts
it's you that hurts
you are relying on yourself
remember that
and you don't need to cut

You can do it. A very wise woman once told me 'You never have to do that again'. As easy as that makes it sound (while I know it isn't), it is very true. There are other ways of dealing with what life throws at you and they aren't just open to the collected, balanced few of us. Please, use the people around you. Use any one of these responders who would jump at the chance to help someone in need, myself included. The best thing I ever did for myself was to reach out to people who cared- friends that convinced me to get help for myself. It's scary, it's risky, but the alternative is continuing as you are now, down a road that doesn't lead anywhere happy.

Tell someone.

It's embarrassing and may hurt more initially but it really helps. :)

It took me a very long time to recover. Years and time and even then I'd still turn back to the blade. But me realising that I'd rather be without the constant struggle and inner turmoil, I pushed myself to stop. Now Im cut-free. You can do it ST, just have so much determination to get out and you can.
marballz Featured By Owner Oct 17, 2008
I smile is the best disguise, but it can fuck you up in the mind if you leave it on to long, it fucked me up, I don't think I can recover, I thought I was, but, I don't think the person I rely on wants me around anymore, and Ive been forced to put the smile back on, because I don't know anybetter, and Its killing me, the little mental health I did have is wasting away, and the shadows are at my door, don't let it happen to you please.

Each to his/her own. If you are happy with what you're doing and you're not risking your life (per se) then well... No-one can stop you. But. If you're not happy with it. I think you should talk to someone, yes, I know, cliche response, it takes a hell of a lot of courage to go up to a complete stranger and just talk to them about your deepest emotions and feelings, but really, it's worth it. You really NEVER know how much of a burden you're carrying until you share it around a bit. Don't worry about burdening others, counselors and shrinks don't go too deep, they don't get weighed down or whatever.

Just remember, you are you. No-one else. Don't try to be someone you're not, just be you and maybe have a deep think about who you really are right now.

I'm sorry. It truly is touture. And while it seems to help in the short term, you start hating yourself for it because you can't stop and you've become a slave to it.
 if you need any help feel free to ask me.
skyrmish Featured By Owner Oct 17, 2008
I never did understand why people do that.
IMPERFECTIONxxx Featured By Owner Apr 5, 2009   Writer
like a drug. It's addicting. It's comforting, until you cut too deep.
It's absolution.

I've cut before.

I don't know how to describe it...

It made me feel infinte and horrible at the same time..
chikchiky200 Featured By Owner Nov 10, 2008
I don't think people need to understand why I think they need to just help
skyrmish Featured By Owner Nov 10, 2008
How can they help if they don't know even understand what they're talking about?
chikchiky200 Featured By Owner Nov 11, 2008
I guess your right, but there are many ways of helping someone without understanding. Getting them the help they need would be one.
skyrmish Featured By Owner Nov 21, 2008
Yeah... But I still wish those people would get more understanding and support from their friends and family to make them feel better about themselves rather than having to resort to "professional" help. =/
chikchiky200 Featured By Owner Nov 22, 2008
But sometimes, the family's 'help' only makes it worse. But in other cases it does help. I think it's just so complicated that there isnt one set way of helping. Each case is different.
skyrmish Featured By Owner Nov 22, 2008
I don't know what to say to that, so I guess you're right. Each case is different..
Still, it would be good if everyone had friends who understood them, because even professional helpers have to understand a problem to be able to fix it.
chikchiky200 Featured By Owner Nov 22, 2008
True, but thats just unrealistic. Not everyone will have someone to turn too, someone who they can truly trust. And although professionals have to understand a problem to fix it, just having someone who has no biased opinion to talk to helps.

It's impossible to understand till you're driven to the same.
