i know that feeling. but you have every right to be sad, and let anyone know. if they are upset, they are NOT worth it. remember this, please. you are following a dangerous path which may lead to depression or even self-harm. please, talk to someone. this will only hurt you.

i used to be EXACTLY the same way,
but then it developed into much more severe of a problem.
i don't mean to scare you, but please be very, VERY careful.
there are ways to show them you've been hurt and are hurt than totally unloading on them. if they turn to you for help, tell them how you relate.
that's a good way to begin making yourself comfortable.
slowly, just take more and more steps to respectfully be honest about both sides of you.
it WILL pay off.

I'm the same way. We should get together and have a cheerful conversation! Optimism rules! Sad days do happen though. i think it's better not to tell everyone.

i hate letting people know when i'm upset because sometimes i just don't want to talk about it. they try to force it out and sometimes i just don't want to then. therefore i feel the needs to wear this constant mask and it gets old and tiring...

Haha, I'm the exact same way.
But I also tend to want to hide when I'm sad because I like to figure out stuff on my own and don't like other people helping.

One of my (normally impossibly cheerful) friends was a bit down today, so I started a random conversation to cheer him up. Of course, if there's something troubling you, people will probably want to try to help you with that, but if you're just a bit 'meh'... pretty much, let your friends know you're not too happy that day. They WILL try to cheer you up and most of the time they'll succeed. So everybody wins!

I feel that way sometimes too. But sometimes it's really best to share your feelings... it can help you and sometimes it can help them too. Think how, even though you feel sad for their sake, it can also feel really good to have somebody share something that makes them sad with you.

I totally understand this, I hope you can find someone that you feel comfortable enough to be able to let it out when you need to. It is hard to be what everyone else expects all the time, it gets exhasting and soon you won't know what are real feeling and what you're trying to mask. Be true to yourself and most everything will work out.

I know exactly how you feel. I'm always trying to be the happy, bright-side-of-things one in the group these days. Some people I know are real huge problem cases, but I'm too determined and can't bear the thought of leaving someone in need... so, in my case, I spend so much time scrambling back and forth and helping other people's problems that my own build up. By then I'm too shy and afraid to lose what I can almost call my achievements with their attitudes to come forward and ask for comfort. It's miserable and I'm afraid I'm going to snap any day now. ):

All I can recommend is that you be yourself. It will start to show after a while that you're breaking down and/or hiding things; however, real friends should appreciate somebody who is open about their emotions rather than hiding them. I know you don't want to bring your friends down, but everybody has problems and everybody has days where they can't put on perfect façades for ignoring them. Just let them know how you're feeling and, if they're real friends, they should stick by you and try to cheer you up. That's what friends do.

I know how you feel...but in not wanting to 'disappoint' people, you end up lying to yourself. I've had to mostly step away from everyone for a while, because I couldn't admit to them that no, I'm -not- ok today, and it's built up until I can't even talk to them. Be real with people. You're human, not a robot, and by nature we cannot always be happy. Tell them when you're sad, let them help you...
...'cause who else is going to? And you can't do it alone. Best of everything to you.
