You can overcome this. You really can. But it'll take time and lots of self-care. Whatever the reason that parent had, their actions are their responsabilities. Although it has affected you you do not have to carry the guilt and sorrow their leaving created. You can break free and start building your life, away from all the drama. You really can. I'm not saying it doesn't come at a price but you need to ask yourself what is more important to you: to be true to yourself and be happy, or to be loyal to a person who doesn't make you their priority? Lots of luck to you.
