Just go up to him, and tell him. He's a good guy for getting you out of that.

You should thank him. An out of the blue text or whatever makes you comfortable. You will find someone for you. We all will....eventually.

If you still know him, you should thank him. :)

Back in high school I had my first serious boyfriend. He was my first, we were going to get married, you know the puppy love romance almost everyone goes through. At the time I was dealing with probably the lowest point in my life. I wanted to die. I was a cutter too. I was a stereotype. Though being with him made me feel special and like I mattered. He didn't cure me, but he helped me get to a more mentally healthy level than I was to begin with. We broke up, as most high school romances do, and he got a new girlfriend. I was so mad and upset, but after time passed and I got over it, I looked back on the relationship and knew overall I needed him in that point in my life so I could get past this hurdle and continue to get better. A year later I still had his number and sent him a text out of the blue thanking him and telling him how I did need him at that point in my life. He replied that it meant a lot to him that I said that. I don't talk to him anymore and don't even know what he's doing anymore, but I'm glad I was able to thank him for everything he did for me.

I can, at least, partially connect to this; when I was in 8th grade, I found a 9th grader who was my age CUTE (didn't fall for him), but he thought I fell for him and so he one day proclaimed that I was his girlfriend. That's where the connection ends...We didn't go through driver's ED together or anything; I had to break the "relationship" off, TWICE, and I was the one who had to try to stop him from committing suicide. Damn boy who I didn't even love forced me into a relationship twice, and my friends screamed at me for, "Crawling back to him after breaking his heart once" when in actuality he tricked me "back into the relationship." He claimed afterwards that I was playing with him and that I was a vile slut who abused him, but since he had moved into the school district that year from a completely different state and I lived here all my life, all my peers - even the ones who hated me, or didn't know me personally - stood up for me saying that they knew me differently than he did and that he was abusing me. Never have I loved my school as much as I did then...But my friends were hurt to know later that they treated me like shit (since they honestly didn't know they reacted how they did) for "crawling back" to a failed relationship when I was forced back into it.

This is a really nice secret... it reminds me of the time that I fell for a friend when I was in a very lonely state and he helped to get me out of it... he broke my heart but helped me a lot... I'll probably never tell him that, though

It is unfortunate that he is dating another girl, but I am so glad that he kept you away from suicide. I've been there: it is not a good place to be.
