Well said! Emotions are HUMAN nature, the bad ones aren't exclusive to those who are abused, sick, an ethnic minority or whatever reason.

I wouldn't say Asians were necessarily a minority. Especially in Asia.

I think very often people do not react because they are insecure if what they think they detect is true and are worried they might harm the depressed looking even more or cause a reaction they may not be able to handle.

But there are also indifferent ones. They won't help anyway, so forget them. As for "Asian" it is as much a minority as all minorities which means you are not automatically less depressed or have less problems. This may be a misperception of Asians themselves. They are said to be very determined and hard-working a maybe just "refuse" to be poor or miserable. So if someone is, it just can't be, I don't know. Just a wild guess. If this is so: don't let yourself be trapped by this.

Anyway - to be wealthy or rich does not mean you are happy. Look at the very rich - especially their children! Many of them do not seem to be so happy!

If this is not just a phase and has been going on for a loger period, then probably it's time for you to act up and ask someone ABLE to help you?!

My mother thinks I'm depressed, but I have no reason to, my family has money, I'm healthy, I have friends (I think), I have all the physical belongings I want, I'm also extremely physically strong, and people always say I look sad, I'm not sad, I'm just always thinking...

Nobody should be turned away like that.Just because there are people around the world who are suffering worse than one could possible imagine, doesn't make a better off person's pains and problems any less real.

just because a lot of things in a person's life are comparatively better than in others
doesn't mean that their pain doesn't still hurt them
I've kinda been there too so......

Asian isn't a minority world-wide. In the U.S., 9.6 percent of the population is at least partially Asian, so it is a minority in the U.S.A.

Minority is a matter of region and perspective. Soyeah. Anybody can be (and certainly anyone can feel like) a minority so, I understand where you're coming from on that count.

You're right. I feel depressed and insecure a lot; you're not alone. I learned what depression was seven years ago when I was 12 and got hit with the realization that I had no friends, my family "didn't care", and I really didn't have a lot to live for. That was a hard year for me, and it took me several more years to pull through the worst of it. I still slide back into depression a lot, and I battle insecurities day in and day out. So from one warrior to another, stay strong <3 if you need help, or someone to talk to, and have no one else, I'm right here; feel free to drop me a note! The challenges life throws our way are so much easier tackled with supporting friends and family all around us <3

That seems to be the general consensus today - there's always someone worse off than you so you aren't allowed to feel bad. Mostly I think, because most people are ignorant of what actually brings people happiness. I am kind of unsure about the whole 'Asian' being a minority thing though. *ducks to avoid hailstorm of stones* Maybe because I'm not Asian, but....I never though of them as a minority. But that's a moot point. If you feel bad you feel bad. You're going to. You're human.

I know what you mean the situation of our life does not determine our amount of happiness because we all find we're missing something.

Oh silly people, telling someone that they can't be sad because they're better off than most people is like telling someone they cant be happy because someone else is better off than them.

Thank you!! Some one points out the fact that Asian is NOT a minority!! close to a quarter of the worlds population is Asian . . . If anything, Asian is normal, and white people are the minority.

But being a minority depends on where you live. So Asians can quite well be a minority in say Togo, Ghana or in Israel. (I choose those two because I'm pretty sure that the Asian population there is pretty low.)
Just the same as Americans or 'Westeners', while being pretty populous in the 'western world' are in fact a minority in Japan for example, with I think about 1% of the population being Non-Asian.
And if you look at the definition of minority: a group that is different racially, politically, etc., from a larger group of which it is a part. It only says 'larger group', doesn't tell you how much larger the majority has to be. So if you had 40% Asians in a country with 60% Europeans - then they'd still be a minority in theory.

I live on the planet Earth . . . and on this planet, Asians form by far the largest group - and has one of the oldest histories and most diverse languages and cultures. . . they aren't a minority.

and yes, I do know the technical definition of a 'minority' - I live in southern California, and in the town in which I live, being a white guy makes me part of a minority here - but I don't give a rat's butt.

While you may live on 'planet Earth', the ST might identify with a smaller region where they live. I know I don't associate 'home' with the whole planet - for me that's Europe at best, and even that's stretching it a bit.

And to your second paragraph... so you can be a minority as a white guy in your town (white people being one of the most numerous people on the planet and having a very old history and diverse languages and cultures) - but the ST can not be a minority in his/her town as an Asian?
As for your rat's butt, that's your personal opinion. You may not be affected by it, or care, or even register it.. but that doesn't mean other people won't feel different.

So, if you don't count Asians in a non-Asian environment as a minority, what do people have to do in your eyes to be considered to be one?

Wow . . . you're misreading that. The ST is saying he ISN'T part of a minority.

And in my opinion, with the way the Earth is being connected - there's no such thing as a minority.

Oh, and white people aren't one of the most numerous, as I said - Asians by far take the cake. And Asian and middle eastern Culture out-dates European cultures by many years.

The ST says: 'people say I can't be sad because I'm [...] not a minority [...]. But guess what? "Asian" is SO a minority'. With my understanding of English that does imply that said person feels as a minority, but people keep telling them they're not.. but then, I might have misunderstood that because I'm not a native speaker.

And by the way, even if Asians are the most numerous people... that still doesn't stop white people being one of the most numerous people, with there being plenty of numerous people and them being one of them...

And then it goes on saying 3 things in red that show how the ST can still be unhappy. And there it say 'Asian is so a minority' in very dark red, maybe sorta hard to see... so that leads me to believe that the ST does see him/herself as a minority, even though 'people say' that he/she's not.
