Its good to think you're beautiful when you enhance yourself, but natural beauty certainly is a thing.

I've actually had a co-worker tell me that she was jealous that I didn't have to bother with make up because I was "naturally pretty". So ha?

I never understand how makeup is that important to person's life. I am fully aware that it can give the person self-esteem that they lack but they might be become too depend on it to where that makeup is needed in any situation to make themselves think they're only beautiful without it and they will be called without these material products. What I will say is that be happy with yourself and accept this natural face, this natural look, is who you are and that's what your parents gave you.

I get if people need make up to feel more comfortable with themselves... But really? There IS such thing as natural beauty, and the only ugly person is someone who acts that way. Make up doesn't fix THAT. I can't stand superficiality, and this is a perfect example of such things...

One thing makeup can't fix is who you are or the personalities of other people.

I don't think anyone should judge this girl for deciding to wear make-up to feel better abotu herself.Just like her I was bully for being ugly & now older I wear make-up to make myself feel better. It's not the best way but the media has made people think that a certain way is right and the other isn't.All my close friends & my current boyfriend seen me or known me before wearing make up.I still use treatment but in the mean while I too wear make up.It hurts how cruel people are or can be to each other, but that's life.

Really... Well, that's rather presumptuous to say there is no such thing as natural beauty. Isn't that statement, in essence, doing the same thing to other people that people used to do to you?

I do not disagree in the use of makeup to accentuate pleasant features, but at the same time, I do not personally wear it every day. Do I care if people find me ugly or pretty? Hell no. Why? Because /I/ think I'm beautiful, and I have friends, family, and a boyfriend who agree. Yes, there are people who consider me ugly. And there are plenty more that would call me pretty. But I would MUCH rather be BEAUTIFUL!

Beauty is more than skin deep. It is easy to be attractive and not beautiful. Think about the movie "Mean Girls", and the main character. BEAUTY is within the soul, not the appearance. Remember that, ST.

aw :( theres nothing wrong with loving how you look with makeup on, but it'd be nice if you could still appreciate those old photos of yourself. it's important to love yourself, without and without makeup on! hopefully youll be able to believe in natural beauty someday

Make-up is fine as an accent, but it isn't necessary to be beautiful. Real beauty comes from within.

I don't like the message this one conveys. Of course it's ST's personal view, and since she's been teased she may have a reason for feeling this way. But I'll throw in my two cents anyway.

I used to be bullied very badly about my just-about-everything, of course including appearance. Nowadays, depending on my mood, I can be very conscious or rather confident about my looks. I don't wear makeup every day, and if so, I use very little just to subtly highlight my eyes and add to my expression. I actually like doing this, but I would never want to hide myself behind makeup. (Often people don't even notice I'm wearing any, but it makes a subtle difference anyway.)

Makeup is a nice way of enhancing your (natural!) beauty, but you shouldn't need those hours in front of the mirror to feel pretty. I think it's unhealthy to build your confidence on makeup.
It may need a lot of time in front of the mirror as well, but please look at yourself without makeup until you can love the image you're looking at. Speaking from experience, not hating it is a first step. (:

And, as much as I try to be free of prejudice, I probably wouldn't find a heavily painted, attention-loving, superior-feeling girl likeable.

P.S.: Oh, but that's a really cute drawing you have there.

i feel bad a person had to go through being teased because i was also bullied but i feel worse that there are people who think they need make up to be beautiful. I'm not thinking myself better than anyone or anything like that. sometimes make up does make you feel pretty. there is a reason make up was made. but commercials are lying to you. society is lying to you. you do not need make up to be beautiful, because there is nothing wrong with you to begin with.

I personally am a believer that natural beauty is a something that is withing grasp through. I believe the easiest and most beautiful makeup is a smile. I love the natural state of humans though personally, but if you are happy with it go for it!

Everyone kindly shut up about natural beauty and fakers. There's nothing fake about wearing makeup. It's saying you're fake if you wear nice clothes. "She's covering the imperfections of her body, faaake!".

Girls don't all wear make up because they feel like they have to. They wear it because they want to. They like it.

Stop telling people what to do, sheesh. Those of you ranting about natural beauty are just as bad as the magazines that say you must always be made up. Mind your own damn business and let people decide what they do or do not want to put on their own faces.

Make up makes me feel like a liar. I hate that everyone prefers when I wear make up. My personal goal is to one day be acne-free and only wear some lip gloss and have my aunt or grandmother or mom or dad say "Oh, are you wearing make up?" and I can finally say "No, thank you very much. Turns out there really IS such a thing as natural beauty!"

Because there IS. And if you truly loved someone, they wouldn't need to wear make up to make you want them.

Makeup actually makes me feel a lot more self conscious and a lot less confident.
I think that even though you may feel self concious about the way you look, you just have to be confident and you'll be fine. By not wearing makeup you will come off as being much more proud of your natural looks, and that is VERY attractive to many people.
Don't try to hide your features with coverup or stuff like that.
You really are gorgeous.
Just smile and love yourself the way you came.

I have a big nose, and you can distract from it (if you so wish) by having layers in your hair, a side part, wearing makeup that pulls the eyes to your eyes and not your nose.

I wear makeup BECAUSE it helps me feel confident. I have had acne since I was 8yrs old and I'm now 21. I wash my face 2x a day, drink tons of water, eat healthy, and exercise, I have even taken acutane, but nothing helps. Wearing some powder, blush, eyeliner, and mascara doesn't make me fake, it makes me confident. I don't cake it on or anything, but I use it to hide scars and cystic acne where I can and it evens my skin tone so I'm not all blotchy. I don't agree that makeup fixes everything, but I also don't agree that wearing makeup makes you fake.

Makeup is fun to wear but it shouldn't be because you think you're ugly. I'm sure the ST has a lot of natural beauty they just need more confidence in themselves. :)

This actually really offends me; I think all girls look beautiful naturally, especially out in public, because I love the confidence they have that makes them not worry about this stupid society that makes beauty an impossibility.

Everyone is beautiful. And people like you, who say that natural beauty doesn't exist, are why girls hate themselves and hurt. Congratulations.

Did you know make up in the long term ruins your skin? it makes wrinkles come out earlier.
Look a model closer, their skin is 5-7 year older than her real age, because they use tons of make up all day :noes:

In an ideal society, women wouldn't be expected to smear things on our face. Men aren't expected to. But considering that this isn't an ideal society, I'm okay with wearing makeup sometimes, depending on how much effort I feel like putting into my appearance. Being lazy, I don't wear it often, but sometimes it just feels like it'd be better, such as for job interviews or whatnot, and that's fine with me. Professionalism is important. It's the same reason you keep fancy clothes in your closet that you don't wear every day.

As nice as it is to see positivity here, though, something about this secret stings: the secret seems to glorify using makeup to get "attention ," claiming that natural beauty doesn't exist. I have no problem with people wearing it to feel more comfortable in public, but does that mean we should do so 24/7? We are not the makeup. We are what's under it. And in privacy, I feel everyone should be able to appreciate that. There's a lot more to beauty than complexion. Remove the makeup, and you can still have a cute face shape, emotive eyes, shiny hair, etc. The makeup needs a base to be applied to, and that base is you. Appreciate yourself. :)
