Why does almost everyone assume it's about cutting?

Suppressing feelings will come back at you with physical pain such as headaches, stomach aches etc.

(also the emo shit. Because YES, being genuinely depressed/anxious means you're emo nowadays.......)

It's honestly humiliating to the website to have this kind of stuff on the front page every day. Not just on occasion, almost every day it changes there's one of these up there. Even if I'm only giving it more backhanded popularity, I'm going to continue to give this page a poor reputation because it deserves it. If these people want to post their sob stories and make it look like poetry, they can do that on their own pages, they don't get much more anonymity on this page. In fact, they're going to get more negative feedback here than they would if they posted it themselves.

There's one reason these things are always on the front page, and it's because almost anyone with two feet into life can relate to it, even in the least. There are plenty of people who feel unfit to achieve something or feel like they're not good enough for the world. Get the fuck over it people, they don't deserve any more praise or sympathy than the next guy with a keyboard and a common experience. I'd at least appreciate it if it was well written and absent of typos for once.

i have to respectfully disagree, your statement is one-sided and harsh tbh. it's no more my right to say what goes on the front page then you or anyones else. if you don't like what you see a simple x can fix that my friend.

The beauty of this little thing we call the internet. many people out there deal with this everyday, i too did many a day back, and it's not like the internet, a simple click does not make it go away.

I do have good reason to make a statement about it being bad for DeviantART, however. It's the fact that I'm sure a lot of these people post secrets to this page for the popularity it will undoubtedly receive. And it's almost always void of any effort or true emotion. These people need to learn from real artists how to grow and develop themselves as an artist, not post half-assed melodramatic text boxes to an anonymous page. And for what? internal satisfaction? or merely the knowledge that hundreds of other people they don't know will comment on it and it will be all over the front page?

Art is a personal experience, whether it be drawing, painting, poetry, photography, anything. You can experience it with other artists, but if it's something personal, then why do they feel the need to post it to a bunch of people they'll never even talk to? I find it ridiculous and it's the main reason I think this page is just full of itself.

Seriously, don't listen to the haters. I know how it is. You are probably having panic attacks. They cause almost heart attack-like situations. Honestly, the best thing you can do is seek help. I had them too, starting at 17. I'm 27. I've found ways to cope by reaching out to others. I'm not going to lie, some days I still work myself up. I have a loving husband and a Mom who's been there. Find your strengths, let them know, and go get it. It's an uphill battle, but it can be done.

It's not against you personally, you could very well be an awesome person. Just don't spread your religion here. It puts a lot of people off. If you want to have something in your signature, that's cool. But be careful about commenting bible crap.

If any other religion were to do the same, they would be flamed. You are not an exception. If you want to talk about that, please, go on to a piece of art or literature actually about it.

Again, it's not against you as a person, it's more against not wanting passages from a book quoted unnecessarily. Say what you want to say in your own words. :)

I know how you feel. I'll be honest I still have problems with it. It's hard to completing get over. Personally, I don't think anyone ever gets 'over them'. You just have to tell yourself everyday "I'm worth something." You might not believe it at first but if you keep at it you will.

Well fuck. This is pretty much me in a nutshell. But, at the end of the day, you can't let yourself dwell on this sort of stuff. As much of a pain in the ass as it can be, and it CAN be literally PAINFUL to do, I have to force myself to sit down and WORK, regardless of how "inadequate" I view myself.

Because, as much as I might rag on my own abilities, I've got people who tell me that there's something good in what I do. So if I trash myself and ignore their opinion, I figure, I'm just slapping them in the face as much as myself. This is just MY reasoning--If it helps somebody else out, then that's fine. If it doesn't, then too bad; I'm not saying this for anyone but my own peace of mind.

And to all those who feel that they ARE inadequate, I just tell you that there is always someone, somewhere, who feels you are anything BUT "not good enough."

This shit is getting old. I understand life is hard, but how does posting ^ "help" those suffering? "omg I feel the same way! -tears- -hugs-" How about posting positive secrets? Hell, talking to a friend/family, even a therapist is better than trashing dA with these "secrets." In my opinion, these secrets are bringing down the dA community. For ex."Lets all be depressed together everyone!1! : D

Opinions can't be "right" or "wrong" either way. They're others' thoughts and perspectives, not facts. Some will agree, others not so much. What else can you do?

It should also be noted that it's not always negative stuff that's posted. They do ask for funny moments, unseen kindness, etc. It's not just "getting depressed together". You can laugh together, share other experiences, give each other viral hugs, whatever.

Besides, some might prefer this over talking to a therapist face-to-face (and some don't really have friends to talk to IRL or a supportive enough family). It all depends on who you ask.

Thanks for explaining ~embercoral! I can understand how others would prefer sharing "secrets" with DAS then talking face-to-face with someone. Makes better sense. :) Its ironic that tumblr deletes accounts that share information like this because they believe it "triggers" more negative emotions, yet dA allows it. This is why I'm confused. I hope that made sense?

Well then KissThePlanetGoodbye, why dont you take your possitive ass to the door so that I can kick it good bye.... because "your" shit is getting old if you havent got anything better to do then "complain" then go take it else where, DA is a website where you can show your feelings throught art, journal or words meaning this isnt "trashing" it.... as for bringing down the DA community, most people here have read and said "Omg I feel the same way! ect." meaning it is bringing them together not away...

So in conclusion your in the wrong their in the right if your not happy with the truth that these people actually share those feelings you might as well fuck off

First off, I want to apologize for sounding like a jerk, that was wrong of me. I'm sorry. :(
Second, is it ok with you knowing other deviants work hard to get their art noticed, yet these secrets get posted to the front page without any effort? It just feels...unfair to those artists. I honestly am curious to your opinion.
