If you let out the secret, it takes the weight off of your chest. I'd know. I let out a big secret to my family and they took it just fine.

Some of us here on DA WILL support you,(including me) No matter how bad the secret s.

 I've done the same thing. Believe me when I say that telling someone, even online, really really helps clear your mind. It's nice to know that at least one person in the world knows what's going on. I found my listening angel, I hope you can find yours too.

Oh hun, I felt EXACTLY the same way. I had the jpeg picture of my very personal on my laptop for a month and tried to send a lot of times but just couldn't do it. Then one day I convinced myself if people think I'm an idiot then at least it's anonymous and I hit send, but was still terrified. Then when it got posted a few weeks later I was so surprised by the amount of support and understanding I got, it really restored my faith in humanity. There was a few secret haters who commented but most of those are just cyber bullies and you need to ignore them. I hope you will your own courage one day, I believe in you anon.

Yes, how strong they are for submitting entertainment anonymously for other users.

I guess it's a matter of perspective. You might see this as a place to be entertained while the ones who tells the secret sees this as a place where he/she can talk freely and tell everyone their darkest secrets without having to reveal their identity to others.
Regarding being strong or not. If your email contains your whole name, then it can be a little scary that the one who recieves it will know your identity together with your secret :)

Hmmm makes me actually wonder how many of these secrets are just made up.

Probably a lot of them. There's a lot that mention wanting to kill people or kill themselves. Most of the secrets are pretty similar.

It kind of takes away from the secrets because they aren't all individual. It's like DAS only accepts the ones that are either about DAS in general, like this one, or about someone wanting to kill another person or themselves.

Maybe it's not that they're made up. Maybe a lot of people really are suicidal. In such a society, I wouldn't be totally surprised.

It IS sad, isn't it...

Depression is a sad majority, pun not intended. I struggle with it daily. But the sadder piece is the teens who think their life is terrible because their parents make them do chores, and hence, want to "kill themselves". Having had family commit suicide, I can say from experience that most people who regularly voice their desire to die are just seeking attention. The ones who actually need help rarely speak up.

It's unfortunate, but true (in my experience). When I wanted to kill myself, I didn't tell anyone. If my best friend (at that time) hadn't walked in at the right moment, I would have succeeded in hanging myself. Yet the people who claim they want to, if handed a knife, will look offended and scoff that you even handed it to them. I've been at the stage where if someone had handed me a knife, I wouldn't have thought twice before cutting myself from ear to ear. It's a horrible thing to do, but it actually can tell you the difference between people who are TRULY depressed and those who just seek attention. I know it sucks to think the world is that sad, but in reality, it's not. Most people just want others to worry and fawn over them. The people who ARE depressed don't care for the attention.

yeah. It's not so interesting anymore, once they keep repeating so much. It's kinda hard to believe that those are the only "secrets" people have... or as you said, seems like DAS only accepts suicidal secrets or I also find it that there's a lot of secrets about ppl with broken hearts or friendzoned ppl...

It's always "I like him/her, but idk how to tell them/i also like this person" or "life is such suck I wanna die" or "Y'ALL ARE BEAUTIFUL!"
And it's really kind of irritating. There's no freaking way THAT many people ONLY have secrets about death/suicidal thoughts/depression/etc. Where are the real interesting secrets?

I want to see something like "I eat puppy feet"!
Okay, not that, but, you get the point.

The secret tellers are basically just emotional teenagers with hormones.
It's just a phase, the whole "omigod I wanna die the world hates me" thing.
People really need to grow up and stop being so dang depressed, it's all in their heads.

And the relationship issues? Don't even get me started..

It doesn't help that the rule is that it's supposed to be a secret you have never shared with anyone. Most of these secrets have most likely been shared at least with the secret teller's best friend. Of course, it's not like there's any way that DAS could know whether the secret has been shared or not, but still. You just know they have been because they are so commonplace, angsty teenage secrets.

That's not to say that there aren't any good ones at all. There was one a long time ago that the secret teller confessed to being addicted to eating their feces. There have been a few where the secret teller has trichotillomania. I remember these because they stood out amongst all the "OMG I HATE LIFE I WANNA DIE" ones.

That's sweet. But if we were really brave, we wouldn't really be anonymous. Speaking of which, I wonder how many secrets they receive every day
