This isn't a new issue btw, Rumi has been dead for 740 years...
"People so seldom say I love you And then it's either too late or love goes. So when I tell you I love you, It doesn't mean I know you'll never go, Only that I wish you didn't have to." - Rumi

DeviantArtSecret, if you can get a message to the person who sent this in, I'd like to give him/her the best advice I possibly can:

This happened to me all the time when I was younger, and after many times of searing, abject pain, I finally learned how to move past it, or at least start to work it out.

Tell her. If she's a good person, as I hope she is if she deserves your love, she'll be kind to you. But the point isn't what she has to say, the point is to get it out. Once SHE knows, the pressure and the hurt start to fade a little, to be released like a clog of debris in a creek.

It's scary. It's scary as shit. I had to tell a good friend of mine that I had feelings for him once, but I was clear about WHY I was telling him. And he let me work it out, and fourteen years later, we're still good friends.

And don't be afraid to do this. You're not ending the love, you're not destroying it, it's not going away. By doing this, you're allowing it to reintegrate into you and be of help. Spread the goodness, rather than the pain you're feeling right now.

Best of luck to you, as well. Unrequited love is a huge, horrible a-hole.

Everyone knows how that goes.
If you know there's no shot at all, slowly allow yourself to move on.
Check out some of the girls on tv. or the computer or something. or girls yu see down the street.
Allow yourself to think they look cute or whatever.
Slowly, you'll be able to regain yourself.
That's how i did it.

Ouch.. Most everyone is being harsh towards you it looks like. XD

I say, if you love this person, prove it. Love is the active pursuit of someone else's benefit, active and energized, to the point you're willing to takes risks for them. You're willing to put in time and energy when you don't know what the result will be. You love them so crazy strong you're willing to put reason aside and just throw everything, every shred of every fiber of your being into helping them, being there for them, fulfilling their needs, making them smile, making them happy. It's an illogical disregard for your own well being in favor of another's, it's tossing aside all pretenses and working as hard as you can all for the sake of saying that you care. It's giving up what you want, and replacing it with what they want. Giving up what you need, and replacing it with what they need.

Even if it means letting the person go. :P Though you never know, it might not.

They want to be with somebody else though, or may have someone already for that, why should he waste his time if he's gonna be unappreciated? =/

I know, believe me :) But someone shouldn't have to waste their life on something that's not going to happen, someone else out there is waiting to be found by them, that's the person that matters

Yes, but it's a lot worse not to know for sure.

Boohoo, so sad. Why don't you people go on and express yourself in a way that's fitting for this site and post it yourself instead of sending anonymous letters just because you don't want to face your problems in reality? How is this going to help in ANY way?
It's just for entertaining people ._. I don't think anybody is going to help you...

On the other hand, there's that feeling of false happiness when you see that people you don't know pity you. :iconinterestingplz:

If someone you "love" drives you to this point it's not love. It's a dangerous attraction, possibly for both parties involved. Getting shot down by a crush always hurts but this is unhealthy. Love doesn't mean you're uncomfortable around the other person and it doesn't make you depressed. As someone who was shot down multiple times and was infatuated with a friend for a few years I know what it's like to have unappreciated attraction. I didn't avoid him and we're still great friends to this day. I also have found someone I truly love and who loves me in return and I don't feel uncomfortable or depressed around them.

If you feel this way i would seek help and I don't mean that in a harsh way as it's the benefit of yourself and others.

It may seem farfetched but this is how some murderers begin. With an unrequited love that drives them on a brink; they feel like only they should have them. Next think you know some poor person is lying dead in a ditch.

actually, it's very possible to be uncomfortable and depressed around someone you love.
Love, unfortunatly, comes in all shapes and sizes, and doesn't always have to be like yours.
I was in a situation like that, only he was my boyfriend. I didn't find out who he really was until halfway through our relationship, but i was already SOO in love with him, i thouht i could accept him anyway.
But things did get uncomfortable, and he kept hurting me emotionally.
I still do even though i hate saying.
Love never dies. Unfortunatly

In a abusive relationship like your own, yes, then your scenario is quite spot-on. However, this doesn't seem to be the case. What this "secret" comes off as is just some boy (or girl, forgive me if I was not equal in previous comments) who didn't get the girl and is heartbroken. In this case, it is unnatural and something to look at carefully if he is depressed and uncomfortable. I do know and realize love comes in many shapes and forms. People can love their dog, pizza, a piece of art, a former president, a friend, their family, etc. The word "love" has all sorts of branches of definitions and things it may apply to.

While we only get one side of this story it doesn't seem as this girl is abusing the person who is crushed, either emotinally or physically.

It's probably self emotional abuse then. People tend to do that when they feel they're not good enough.
And who knows? There could be more to the story than what we see here.

I've gone through the same, I had a crush on my bestfriend (despite he ended being a dick) and I acted the same as you and now I love someone that makes me happy. So I agree with your point of view, that feeling he has is unhealthy and abnormal. About the last paragraph you wrote, I'm not sure if this ir true but I expect for his sake that you're wrong xD

Perhaps. I did say it would sound a little farfetched. However I have seen all sorts of crime shows (both dramas, which I know are exaggerated and glamorized for TV, and the real life ones where they reenact the crime). I have seen similar cases where a boy "loves" a girl and it drives them to a psychosis. Of course, this may very well be a poor guy who's just very devastated by unrequited crush feelings.
