Same here. I may sound sadic, but I prefer seeing kids being hit because they did wrong things (like when it was allowed in schools) than kids who says to their parents they are pieces of shit. But I also think that every generations has bad parts, and also, I didn't lived both of the situations, so maybe if I did my opinion would change. In my case, I've always been attracted by old music/life styles, so yeah, I would have liked to live in another generation, just to have an ounce of hope to meet my favourite artists, but I think I have to be realistic : this will never happen.

Well, if you see what people are doing, you can agree with that. [Luckily, all of the bad stuff is about to die. Just wait until people start acting more... uh... normal? no. responsible? maybe. the point is, things will clean up. just wait 5 years or so.

did you know that: every generation had its good and bad parts so there is no reason to hate on this generation and/or romanticize another generation

you can't go and say that this generation is a piece of shit because "ew justin bieber!!!!" or "ew twilight!!!" [do people still do that anymore] or because kids your age act too popular while you think you're god's little angel sent from heaven or any of that bullshit

every generation has been a piece of shit in some parts. if anything, this one is at least a bit better [as of right now] because of all the new technology we have and improvements in a whole lot of fields

it makes me really mad when people say they hate the current generation just because of a few people they don't like

We fantasize about our own generation, our own youth.

However, the world, due to the internet - the easily available information, the extreme social pressure that is now there - well, what else do we expect of people?

Also - one person, a group of people, doesn't represent the generation.

Every generation takes behavioral cues from the ones proceeding it. We learn how to interact with the world by watching the people who raise us, testing boundaries while we are very young.

For this generation to be completely terrible, it would mean that they took all of the bad from the generation before them, and so on, and so on...

The only thing distinguishing the current generation from the one before it is the access to technology and networking that wasn't previously available. As a population, we haven't had time to adjust ethically or even socially to the rapid changes in technology. It doesn't mean that the newer generations is rotten, it just means that we have a lot of adjustments to make.

I'm open to any analysis of these points, if there's something i'm missing, please let me know.

I agree, though we do got to remember to look at the positive side of our generation, though not much for me to think of. I worry A LOT about the future generation and if I was to get married and have a child, I'd probably make them keep their respect and such so as not to act like our crappy generation or the next...Homeschool my children too for a bit :P

my theory.... the idiots will all self-destruct eventually, and somehow the population will turn itself around again.

or maybe we'll get lucky and have a repeat of the 70's-90's.

That ought to be worth the wait right?

I think my generation is fine, at least the college-age people. We're creative and progressive. I think there is less hate in the world and I believe my generation is much more ready to put aside differences and get along with each other.

We're more likely to roll along with science and accept its theories as well.

I'm not worried. I think we're better than our predecessors.

As far as all the stupid people... they have always been there and always will be. Unfortunately they are the majority. The good news is that not many of them have the drive to become leaders and won't have a big impact on the world.

This is what every generation says about the generation after it. Everyone complains, but look around. The world isn't collapsing. We're doing fine. We're not perfect, we could be better, but the world isn't going to fall apart once we're in charge.

Honestly, I'm sixteen and I feel much more confident in the new generations. Look on the bright side: most of us know at least two or three languages, technology helps us to expand our horizons, we can access to an almost unlimited knowledge, we're ambitious, we're open-minded, many of us write and read a lot, many are artists, many of us start to care about enviroment and so on... There are so many good things about new generations (as well as bad ones, ok, but still we cannot forget about them) :aww: There have always been stupid people. And I think that new generations have grown up "crappy" mostly because of the previous generations, who have brought them up. Not everybody, though, it'd be silly to generalize. However, complaining about how "crappy" we are won't solve the problem.
But this is just my opinion. :)

(Sorry for my English )

I'm afraid it's quite the contrast - the previous generation have left the world this way for us and the techniques those in power are using are attempting to preserve their own seat of power, so that the new generations cannot gain any footing on them, other than the select few the wish to do so.
Thus, in order to do this, education gives you less than it used to, it's harder to find information out that you need, and certain 'truths' are told to us instead of the whole picture.
As a final note, the new technology is not geared to making the human life ecologically or biologically cleaner, it's making it so we need to do less i.e. eliminating our role in things.

About the previous generations, I was just talking about the attitude some youngsters have, which I think is usually some parents' fault. I agree with you, those in power most of the times just want to keep themselves in their leading positions, but this has always happened, unfortunately. But this doesn't mean we cannot fight for what we want and yes, maybe we won't succeed, but I personally think one shouldn't give up before trying just because he/she isn't a person with "connections".
I agree with you on how difficult it is to find real information in some fields, especially politics and economy probably, but still I think the school education we receive is very good (at least in my country, which isn't the best of the world for sure).
Technology isn't made to make human life cleaner, that's for sure. But I think it doesn't just eliminate your role in things, or better, it does but also helps people to do many things. Industry produces huge amounts of products, the quality gets better, science and medicine improves, the Internet (if you make a good use of it) gives you lots of information... Yes, many people use technology too much and just entrusts it completely, maybe expecting it to live their lives. But that's not fault of technology, and none of these things is new generations' fault.
I wrote my comment just because I think that defining all the new generations "crappy" is rather rash, and coming from a 15 years-older is also sad.

i blame the crap like jersey shore and honey boo boo, that stuff rots your brain worse than anything i can think of. glorifying morons like those people is making us stupid in return. every time i walk in on my mom watching that stuff i feel myself losing brain cells. THAT IS NOT REAL LIFE, in the real world you are not paid to party and drink, and you don't fart and burp for family entertainment! but the biggest problem is how the world somehow values entertainment rather than valuing our doctors, policemen, and firefighters, and because of this these sparkling idiots reproduce more and spread their seeds of stupid everywhere. these days humans aren't affected by Charles Darwins theory of natural selection in a positive way. in short: we are not evolving, we are DEVOLVING.

Looking over the comments, I have now confirmed my thoughts: It is this kind of comment that makes every 15 year old kid look bad.
I mean really, it's no wonder older people hate teenagers.

But seriously, stop complaining about whether this generation is bad because by doing so, you're just contributing to how bad it could already be by complaining about it. Get out of your computer seat, out the door, and start making a difference on our earth if it scares you so much to think our generation is worse than others-- not that it particularly is any worse than the last, or the one before that, as others have already mentioned repeatedly.

Also, while I'm at it, you can't really judge an entire generation on the majority--- I mean you can, but what I mean to say is that you have to look on the brighter side--- for every generation there is someone who changes our world completely. Whether that be a good or a bad change. Something always happens that changes our world dramatically, but sometimes we have to be the change.
