Strong message, however I personally believe people with gender identity issues as well as differing sexualities are messed up.
Its just me, I don't like to discriminate against them, though! ^^

I've learned to love people for who they are and not for their gender, I've had this happen once. I actually didn't care because it's still the same person who makes me smile right? just a little more information about them. I actually believe that if they tell you this it only means that they trust you or they want to tell you more about themselves personally.

I know exactly how you feel, I hope that who ever it is loves you just as much when you tell them, try bringing up the topic of people who are Transgender first and work your way up from there :)
