My family knows little to nothing about me. They assume I'm someone I'm not, but I don't challenge it. I've come to accept that it's easier to play along and let them assume that's how I am, when it means we can keep our relationship. However, I do get upset when my mom thinks she's the only one under stress. Her stress is physical, that's why she's depressed. Because she can't do everything she used to. My stress is emotional. I'd love for her to notice, but she's wrapped up in her own life..and that's ok.
Friends help. But sometimes you just don't want anyone to know, because you don't want the pity or the worry..I've had that too. I carry everyone's secrets and my own, and it makes me feel as if I'm going to break. But I can't voice the reason I feel this way, because they'd worry. So I know where you're coming from.
I hope you can get through to her, though.
