You are, though. Don't you see? I'm REALLY skinny, and I absolutely hate it. Nothing fits and people call me names.

I've been through enough because I thought I was ugly. But now.. it doesn't affect me so much anymore.

If you can, talk to someone, even on an online forum.

people can beg you to eat. cry and shout, but nothing will work.
some day, you'll realize: an eating disorder is a fucking waste of time
take it from some one who has been wasting 10 years her life to that "life-style".

Real People love people who are confident with themselves, REGARDLESS of body shapes or looks. Modeling is a load of hogwash anyways. It's like sports. You're only good at it when you're young, and then you're useless to them and they throw you away for the next big star. You should pick a career that will mature as you age, that YOU can control the outcome of.

If you like fashion and creative arts, you should get a degree in that. Make fashions for people who are not perfect. I'm tired of going to the mall and have nothing to wear. :)

Marylin Monroe was a size 14, and she was a pretty short person.

Skinniness isn't beauty. Beauty comes when you look in the mirror, and you can give yourself a genuine smile.

Perfection is just a state of mind. Everyone is perfect in their own ways and even if you aren't "skinny enough", you can still be beautiful. There are models who aren't skinny. And besides being skinny isn't always what it's cracked up to be. It's just that media now-a-days is making it seem like it's the "best thing ever". Be proud of who you are and don't be afraid to eat, it's good for you~<3 :)

You will never be perfect, no one is perfect. If your goal is perfection you are always going to fail. There is no good out come in striving to be perfect.
Be yourself instead. It may not be perfect but being true to who you are is beautiful none-the-less. <3

It's not just the media. It's society.

The ideal lady is expected to be polite, nice, and mild. If they're loud and boisterous, they're being "too much". The ideal lady is quiet, polite, doesn't interrupt, and makes herself as small as possible.

On the other hand, a bitch is someone who is loud, speaks her mind, and doesn't care what other people think about her. She is a woman who acts as she pleases without regard to other's perceptions.

AKA, society labels skinny, barely there, unobtrusive women as ladies. And women who are big, loud, present, and strong are bitches.

Which is fucked up. Let yourself be present, through your voice and your body. It's an act of rebellion and something beautiful in itself. Being a model does not equal being beautiful. You won't love yourself any more when you reach your "ideal" body. Love your curves, lack of curves, stick thin, big ass- love your body as it was made, its unique features.

Some of us live in horrible societies that tells women they need to be less of themselves to be loved. But plenty of people aren't vapid assholes. Once you start loving your body, other people- the kinds of people who you will want in your life- will be able to as well.

Honey, being thin isn't all it's cracked up to be. I'm 95 lbs and have weighed this much for 2 years; I'm 16. I've had so many pains because I'm underweight, and have had so many other issues because of it. It's impossible for me to gain weight, and it's seriously hurting me. I'd rather have curves in all the right places than be as thin as I am, and that's coming from the "stick" girl.

Please don't starve yourself, it'll only hurt you in the end. Besides, I'll bet you're beautiful the way you are.

Curves are better than bones. You shouldn't compare yourself of starve yourself in order to fit in with those "beautiful" photo shopped models in magazines.

The media is what makes a horrible example of what a woman should look like, let alone a teenager. Then there are commercials that advertise makeup with "gorgeous" models, and the truth is, without make up, they look like ordinary people and blend in with everyone else.

20 years ago, Heavier models and spokeswomen existed in media. The key is to focus on EVERYTHING about you that is good. It may not be any of your physical features, but inner beauty is a hell of a lot more important than outer beauty in my opinion. Eat a healthy, balanced diet, and set up a schedule to run or go to the gym. Hire a trainer if you want/need to and they can help you set up a good schedule and make sure that you don't overwork yourself.

If you don't eat, your body doesn't use the stored fat. It starts eating away at muscles instead. Please don't do this to yourself. I may not know who you are, but you are absolutely gorgeous in every way possible.

Try eating healthier foods. If you feel terrible eating at all, avoid junk foods because, I'm assuming, it'll just make you feel worse. I've been avoiding pop, chips, baked goods, fast food and so on for over a month now and it really does feel great. You feel so much "cleaner" and you have so much more energy when you put the right things into your body. And your body shows it too! You get cleaner skin nad you'll lose/gain healthy amounts of weight. I have a day though that I chose (which is Friday) that I am allowed to eat some junk food, like chocolate, haha, just to keep me somewhat sane since I have a crazy sweet tooth. :P

I don't know if you're old enough to drive, but if you are, try walking or riding your bike instead! Tone your body, get rid of excess fat you don't need. It'll help you get the body you want to feel beautiful. I don't doubt you're already beautiful right now, but if you personally feel like you need to do something more, try anything I mentioned. It'll make you feel better about yourself. :3

Good luck! <3

What they mean by your can't be a model is that you're not tall enough, also girls who look like anorexics aren't models, it's the naturally thing ones who still look healthy when they're skinny. I'm too short to be a model, even if I am taller than most girls my age, I'm not 6 ft, which is model height, and I think that would be horrible to be that tall, because of all the stares you'd get. And I've had friends who weighed more than me and got tons of guys because they were funny, and nice, and put on make-up. Weight doesn't really matter, and all the guys who aren't shallow, actually don't want a girlfriend who refuses to eat because all that emotional pain they'll be put under if they actually care about her. The only guys who want a skinny girlfriend are usually deadbeats and just want something pretty to hang on their shoulder. So don't feel bad, you're comparing yourself to the less than 1% of the population of females that are crazily tall and are naturally rail thin, in real life, people don't like really really tall girls, like models. Anorexic models are never pretty, and when a model becomes anorexic she gets fired and loses her career because she no longer looks healthy.

Model height isn't 6 ft tall. It's usually 5'9 and up, but there are petite models out there, who are under 5'7.

wow, I've never seen any, but those are like specialized models right? The ones that go into one line of business, modeling clothes specifically targeted at petite women? And getting into specialized categories seems harder, since there's less demand, I'd think.

I'm not quite sure, I know that it all depends on like the designer if the model wants to do the designer's fashion show. If that made any sense. It all just depends on if whoever is in charge likes the model enough.
It's a lot more difficult for petite models, though.

I am scrawny. I hate it. My goal is to get to healthy weight for my height and age. Be yourself. See the beauty deeper then the skin. Don't hurt yourself to be perfect.

When you are healthy and treat yourself with kindness and see the true beauty of yourself, then you are truly beautiful. :)

Hey, in most people's minds, skinny doesn't always mean beautiful, and vice versa. I personally know examples of both sides of this. It doesn't seem like that 90% of the time from media influence and stuff, but you can be (and probably are) beautiful without being a size 0. I don't even know what you look like and I can tell that about you. <3

As someone who is struggling with anorexia I'd highly advise against this - not eating won't make you prettier, in fact I often get teased about how disgusting I look to other people (which doesn't help said eating disorder..), working out and eating nothing but healthy foods however will help give you the body you're probably looking for.

I actually wrote a blog post on this that you might find helpful.

tl;dr of the post - I used to do the same as you're describing, ST. It was a miserable experience, and it took a very long time and a lot of work (and the anchor of scientific evidence to cling to) to pull myself out of it. Bluntly, the world is totally messed up in its views on weight and beauty, and the damage to individuals caught in the crossfire is greater than a lot of folks realize.

You are not a bad person for eating. We all have to eat to survive. That is a law of nature, and not up for negotiation.

Nor are you a bad person for not fitting this broken culture's horrendous ideas of "beauty" - at this point, no one does, because Photoshop. A body is never a shameful thing.

You are you, and no one else fits that particular job description.

Models are too thin, if you haven't caught up on that yet. Not to mention there's many models out there that are actually, y'know, normal-sized. Not even those 'plus models hurp' shit, just... Not a size negative twenty.
And it's those models that always get the hooplah over them. "GHASP A PLACE USING NORMAL WOMEN AS MODELS!!!"
so would you rather be another husk of a woman drifting over a stage with no one paying attention to who you are at all, just what you're wearing, or be one of the women who have people talking about her?

Women are not supposed to be skinny. We simply are NOT. It's not healthy for us. Fashion industry claims that models should be stick thin in order to act like a "clothes-hanger" because that's the only way the clothes will hang right. No. Women are capable of birth. Bringing forth life. We have broad hips for this purpose, and breasts too! We are not supposed to be able to see our ribs or our hip bones. We are the "gentler sex" in the sense that our lines are softer. Curvy and wonderful, not gaunt and pitiful.

I think that most models are too thin, and half of them aren't actually that good looking.

And don't forget Photoshop etc. At least half of what we see in adverts is editing and therefore a total lie.

This whole "being skinny is in" BS is only a Western culture that we've created and let the media brainwash us with. For the LONGEST time I wanted to be like that too. I wanted to be the perfect skinny girl with a model's body but you know what? Being THAT skinny is just as bad as being overweight. I know Marilyn Monroe is like way beyond our time, but she was rumored to having worn size 12 jeans and she was the hottest thing back then. So every time I start to feel bad about my weight I just think about that and realize that I'm only 1 size bigger and that makes me feel good. :)

I'm sorry, but it's not only Western culture that idolizes skinny. My best friend lived in South Korea for a year and is going back in a few months and while she was there, she was considered fat. She was only like size 4, but she was still called fat.
