But isn't the agony of not knowing hurting you enough?
Ask him. It'll hurt more than anything. But you'll get over it, because you'll know why then and you'll be able to move on.
You'll be alright (:

If you want to ask him, you should. creating restrictions out of fear or discomfort isn't worth it, just do it if it will make you happy. good luck :)

ST, sometimes the truth hurts but in the end, it's better than not knowing.
You should ask your dad, you're old enough to know, there's no excuse.
Just try not to hate him okay?

Lol, my dad came straight out with it. "I don't want to live this life anymore."

Many dads still care even when they can't be around. ;_;

maybe he is ashamed of where he is, my parents have been divorced for 16 years and my dad has never told me the real reason behind it. The only way I knew was because of my mom and she told me as a warning for me about drugs.

ST, I know it must be hard. But I'm sure he wants to tell you, and always remember one important thing when you get ready to ask. He still sees you every weekend, so that means he still loves you, and as one of the other commentors said, he's probably secretly wanting to tell you also.

Ignorance isn't bliss. You're an adult now, and it's time you learn the truth about your father. I have no doubt that it will hurt, but the truth hurts sometimes. That's how life is, and to accept this is to be an adult.

You will have to face up to it eventually. Ask your dad when you are ready (also if it's a good thing) but perhaps set a date for yourself? I am certain that you will feel relieved after knowing the truth.
