I probably shouldn't feel jealous that you sort of knew him, cause he was my hero in so many senses of the word...

But don't kick yourself for it. Everyone chickens out sometimes. And it was two years ago. If you dwell on it for much longer you'll just make yourself out to be a bad guy that you never were. I've been here before, and trust me, it's better to leave it in the past.

this secret makes my heart feel a little warm inside.

you should tell this person that you're sorry. even if it seems like they've forgotten about it, or you don't talk to them anymore, or what ever the situation is. you should tell them the truth. an apology for something hurtful is never a bad thing to deliver. I encourage you not to keep this secret a secret.

Your comment means alot. I'm not the secret teller, but i have a similar story. I used to pick on this kid in 4th grade, and i just found out a couple months ago that it realy hurt him. (Im in 8th now) I've regretted my actions ever since, and i long to say that i'm sorry, but i can never find the right time or frame of mind to bring up somthing that happened so long ago. And it seems that he had forgotten all about it, and that it means nothing anymore. But i still want to say i'm sorry. And your comment gives me some strenth to do so. :)

I feel exactly the same. I used to pick on this boy in 5th grade (who was always so nice to me), a cousin and a family friend the thing is I had no idea that I was being such a huge big headed fool, I was a fool who couldn't see what he was doing was wrong. Over the years I matured and one night, when I was in 9th grade I thought about how I wronged these three people those years ago and I literally cried myself to sleep because I couldn't believe the monster that I was back then. I have since atoned for my actions towards my cousin and family friend but I have yet to tell that boy in 5th grade how sorry I am and now we go to separate schools so I may never see him again. I used to and still do wish that I could go on TV one time and deliver a huge overdue apology hoping he sees it.

You should definitely do it. You'll find the right place and time. And if not, then make it. It bothered him then, and it bothers you now. Even if it seems he has forgotten about it, regret (on your part) has a way of accumulating. (Chances are, he still remembers it.)

And since you've just found out now, it's the perfect time to tell him how you feel.

I've found that it always takes courage to do the right thing. You can do the wrong thing anytime you want. But courage is required to make things right. Anyway, I support you! Do it for him and for yourself!
