Deviousness |
I, for one, have never regretted it. I would not take it back for money, fame, or love. 8)
I was about to go into highschool alone, since all my close friends were going to a different highschool than me.
Now, I wasn't quite the conversationalist...
I found it hard to talk to people I didn't know.
If someone I didn't know tried having a conversation with me,
I'd get flustered and give a one-word response.
Lame, I know.
So uh, yeah, I was devastated.
But you know, the first day of highschool...
I gave my self a little pep talk,
and just went all out.
That day, I tried starting conversations.
Sometimes I failed, yeah, it was really awkward and terrible, but I tried not letting it get me down.
And sometimes, it worked; I remember overhearing this one girl, talking about where her next class was,
which was close to mine!
It took me awhile to get the courage to talk to her; I gave myself a little pep talk, the bell rang, I practically tackled her, at the last minute.
We walked together, she showed me a short-cut (THANK GOODNESS), and she even introduced me to a couple of her friends, who, which I had no idea at the time, were actually in a few of my classes!
We're good friends now.
I met and made a lot of new friends that day.
Oh, uh, sorry for the long story.
My point is, the only person holding you back is you.
You just need to put yourself out there, even if it's out of your comfort zone.
If something goes wrong, think of it as a learning experience!
I'm about to be a sophomore now!
Yeah, I still get a little shy now and there, but it wasn't as bad as it was before.
I'm starting to get over it!
I know it sounds cliche, but I can honestly say that the most helpful thing to do when you want to overcome it and talk to someone is ask yourself- "what's the worst that could happen?" It works for me.
but, since I'm reading the comments it's actually making me feel a bit better and I'll try some suggestions
