You know, I had a friend exactly like that. She told us all that exact story, and I stopped talking to her because of it, I never believed her. I wish she had just told the truth, admitted to lying, and said she was sorry for lying. Just telling the truth does wonders. They'll be disappointed and annoyed, but they'll forgive you. Good luck.
