Best friends are honest with each other; if you can't give her that, then you are not being a very good best friend. No matter how horrible the truth may be, I rely on my best friend to say it to me before anything else. You probably shouldn't say "hate", but you could give her constructive and honest advice about how you feel.
Maybe she can explain to you why it has become so dark, and you can both learn something about each other. I just think that honesty is definitely the best policy.
