Talk to somebody about it, he or she can help you! I know it's hard, but in the end - when you feel happy again - it will be worth it.

please don't write those things in places like this. this is the WORST thing you could say to a person who might actually commit suicide. how do you know that they are lying? they aren't getting any attention for it since it's anonymous.

when someone lets out their feelings you should NEVER react this way. saying that they are lying will only make them feel much worse for telling because they fear that people will react this way.

If you can't remember what "happy" feels like, you may have a condition called dysthymia. It's very mild but chronic (long-term) depression. Other symptoms include feelings of hopelessness and just not enjoying things you used to. Physical symptoms can include changes in eating or sleeping habits. I can tell you this from personal experience; I had dysthymia for years and didn't notice because it's so mild. Finally, I realized my state of being wasn't normal (why don't I remember what happy feels like? why do I get out of bed in the morning - some strange sense of duty? definitely not because I was excited to live life) and went to a therapist. He prescribed me some mild antidepressants, and they worked like a charm. You don't have to go through life without the feeling of "happy".

ABSOLUTELY TELL SOMEONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's the best advice I can give.
Someone could really help you with your problem but you need to tell them, and it's not good for you to keep these emotions to yourself; you're putting so much stress on your body!!!
You're a beautiful human being who deserves happiness, and I'm really sorry that you've been without it for 3 YEARS!!!! But don't let it be 4!!! Talk to someone, and let someone be there for you and love you; you really need to be loved and cared for right now. Do things that put a smile on your face!!! Be more positive. I've read that writing in a journal makes you a little happier, and also writing 5 good things about today. I've heard exercise is good for you, and getting some sunlight on you for 10 minutes.  And reading happy, uplifting stories. I've even read that doing something difficult can make you happy as well.
Just try new things; don't just sit around depressed; you can overcome it !!!!

I know what it's like.  You should definitely tell someone.  I felt the way you did for years too, desperately trying to remember what being happy feels like. After I went to a therapist and psychiatrist, I got antidepressants and feel great now.  I really had to fight my parents to let me go, but once they let me, I finally felt like myself again.

Nothing is wrong with you, many people suffer from manic depression, pop down to your GP and they can register you to a therapist or prescribe you anti-depressants :)

You could have a disorder called manic depressive.
And I dont say that to put that stigma on you
it actually is a chemical imbalance in your brain
from your brain misfiring
Look it up and get some help hun

Short, simple, it explains that life has many hardships
some (a lot DA watch DAS) can't handle and so they end themselves
Foolish, narcotic, aggravating statement and yet it explains so much in 3 1-syllable words, I guess your wrong

Only as wrong as your approach here I'd say.
What good does a pessimist trolling a pessimist do?
creates a circle I suppose.
That's all I would like to say anyway.I cane here to make a point not change someones point of view.
clearly that wouldn't happen in any case.

Hmmm.. Yes it's true that only few can realize the truth BUT MAYBE (not so sure) the reason why you're acting like that is because you're life is ruined or messed up and you pull down others because you are at the bottom. Honestly, my life is ruined as hell but I support others in thinking that life is so easy, that life doesn't hurt (even though it does) I support the lie that they believe because those who realized the truth will end up being hurt by the truth.

Thank You for sharing this! I haven't felt happiness of any form in over 4 years and I really sympathise with you. It is such a relief to know I am not the only one as no one else I have found understood what it is like. Its hard because I have so much to be happy for but I don't know why I cant be. Its not depression but one day it will change. Because if it didn't I would hardly bother with anything at all. I've found the only way to get by is by trying to make up your own happiness by looking for the good we over look it.

Good luck you have my best wishes

I would say nothing, as a teen (if you are) then your going to get raging hormones and have different emotional stages whilst going through puberty.

BUT, if you think it's serious, then I would highly encourage you to talk to your parents. I know, it's embarrassing, but trust me, I will make your life so much easier.

Depression is a medical problem. You should tell your parents so they can help you find a way to fix this.
I was depressed abouta year and a half ago. At 14, I cut myself and even ran away from home. My mother decided to have me tested for some kind of problem. It turned out that it was being caused by a certain vitamin deficiency. It could be something similar then you.
Good luck to you. :)

About St John's Wort... No prescription is needed. It's just something you can buy in a pharmacy. I would urge you to seek all non-physical treatments before trying anything medicinal. Quite often, happiness is a way of being that we have re-learn and also learn to hold onto. Have hope. :)

Happiness is something you can forget how to feel. Puberty kicks it in the pants, often. Puberty doesn't actually end at '16 for girls and 18 for boys' or any number of the other deadlines we were repeatedly told. Your brain will be doing some serious growth for more years, often 19 is about when stuff starts to settle down but major progress continues on into the early twenties. There's a time to rejoice and a time to survive. Definitely find someone to talk to if you believe that will help. Happiness is something we get out of the habit of, some sooner than others. It is entirely possible to work your way back. Some people develop self-defeating beliefs that rob them of happiness.

I know a few guys who are chemically depressed, they were just born that way. Maybe their brains don't make enough 'happy hormones' but that could be involved in a vicious cycle of them being pessimistic all the time, since even sulking hard enough can make a chemical reaction. Anyway, long story short, they are treated the same way doctors in Germany treat depression. St John's Wort. It's a plant you can buy in capsules. It works on depression and has no suicidal-feelings side effects or imbalances like many other anti depressants. If you're a minor, check with parents or whatever, of course.

Your depression could be due to many other things than chemical in base, though. Sometimes it can be as simple as eating something regularly that you are sensitive to but don't know. It could be a bad environment. It could be your self-care habits ---- are you looking after yourself? Hard when you're depressed, but your body needs it to be happy. Is it unresolved anger or injustice? Are you still in a process of grieving over something --- family, a state of being, a pet, a friend, anything? Grief doesn't necessarily just 'pop' like a soap bubble after a set period of time. Please, have hope, seek the truth out and you'll be ok. Best wishes.

The thing about happiness, is it isn't just something that happens.

Well okay, that's not completely true, because in some ways it does just happen, and that's the mystery of it. But you have to fight and claw and pull to get it. You have to find out what makes you cry and laugh all at once, you have to find the things that you would be willing to DIE for. You have to start living, really living, because happiness is a product of living. Not this day-to-day grind cubicle living, no. Happiness is a product of living full in your passions, facing what you fear, going for those things you truly want in your life, not letting the possibility of getting hurt again hold you back from fulfilling your destiny [destination]. Happiness is a product of journeying toward all that you were meant to be.
So get out there and make it happen, you've got this (:

So what, it's been a lot longer than that for me.

I don't think anyone's happy, really. That's just what happens when you grow up... you realize that fact and can never do anything to change it, because at that point, how you feel doesn't matter.

hmm... well... wow... you kinda read ME like a book XD
that is exactly how i feel... (except for the unhappy part)
only i try to focus on appreciating what i have.
i have only 2 friends but they are absolutely wonderful

i've been there buddy... (i'm not going to pretend to know how you feel and i don't want to)

my parents are divorced (make no mistake, that is not your fault), my relationship is unstable, i've been bullied at school constantly (i've been molested as a child)
but even when i don't have my family i have my friends to count on.
i suggest you focus on concentrating in trying to make things as better as you can and try not to dwell much on it.

imagine a well that you've been stuck on for the last 3 years.

focusing on dwelling and regretting isn't going to change your situation nor make it better. instead you're going to drown yourself in deeper.

however focusing on trying to make it better even if it's bound to have no progress or improvement,
focus on trying to climb out and filling this empty hole, once you do, it won't seem so deep,
you can stand on your problems rather than letting them be on your shoulders and you'll feel much lighter as well as you'll have a foot-hole to be able to take your head out of the problems so you can breathe.
and remember you can at least fill yourself with the immense breath of fresh air and satisfaction that you actually tried to make a difference for yourself.

best of luck to you and remember to try.

here's a lama badge for you :3

and here have this www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJGPFN... (this tends to cheer me up)

It's possible you have clinical depression. If you're a minor (I'm assuming you are) talk to your parents about therapy. It may seem stupid or pointless, but even if this is just in your head they can help you, you can find your smile again ST, life doesn't have to hurt.
