We have both suffered through sour relationships over this time (easily 7 years), as if we had to learn what was wrong before we could truly see that this was what was waiting; before our rose-coloured glasses broke beyond repair.
I'm sure this is meant to be. I'm certain. He just has to come back from Afghanistan, too....
